All our services at Trinity are special because, as we gather around Word and Sacrament, God is present in our midst and our lives are renewed. Yet throughout the year there are special occasions and celebrations that we observe together. Of course, the festivals and seasons of the church year — Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost and Thanksgiving, are marked by special times of worship and praise. Additionally, there are commemorations and worship events throughout the year that recognize God’s goodness in our lives.
Summer Schedule (May 28-September 10)
During the summer, we worship together at a single 9:30 service in the Nave. On most Sundays, Trinity Deaf worships in the Chapel at 9:30, though they sometimes join the Hearing Church with an interpreter.
Pentecost Sunday (June 4)
Pentecost celebrates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, both on the first disciples (as recounted in Acts 2) and on the church today. We mark this festive day by reading in various languages, singing hymns from many cultures, and celebrating the way God’s Spirit moves in our Learning Ministries and in the Global Missions of the ELCA. A special offering will be received to purchase Bibles in other languages to be distributed throughout the world by the ELCA (a $12 donation will purchase one Bible).
Covenant Worship (with Christ Episcopal at Trinity)
Each year Trinity joins our covenant congregation in a joint service, honoring and recommitting ourselves to the covenant we have established to pray for one another and to seek opportunities for mutual ministry and service within the City of Reading. A joint choir will lead us in worship and Father John Francis will preach God’s Word, while Pastor Alan presides.
Church Picnic (August 27 at 11:00)
Our annual church picnic at Colony Park in Spring Township begins with a casual service of the Eucharist, complete with camp songs! 9:30 worship is still held that day in the Nave for those who are unable to worship at the park. All are welcome to come together for the picnic lunch which follows our worship in the park.
RLP God’s Work Our Hands Worship, Service Project and Picnic (September 10 at 11:00)
Join the other congregations of the Reading Lutheran Parish at Stone Cliff Park for joint worship, a service project and picnic. 9:30 worship is still held at Trinity that day in the Nave for those who are unable to worship at the park.
Common Ground Recovery worship continues to meet through the summer at 4:00 PM each Sunday in the Auditorium. This meaningful service of Word, Sacrament, Meal and healing conversation is open to the entire community, including all members of Trinity. Experience God’s grace in a new way through Common Ground.
