All our services at Trinity are special because, as we gather around Word and Sacrament, God is present in our midst and our lives are renewed. Yet throughout the year there are special occasions and celebrations that we observe together. Of course, the festivals and seasons of the church year — Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost and Thanksgiving, are marked by special times of worship and praise. Additionally, there are commemorations and worship events throughout the year that recognize God’s goodness in our lives.
We gather with the community at 10 AM on Thanksgiving Day for a service of song, prayer, and readings. This year, some members of Trinity will give brief meditations on things for which they give God thanks. This service is broadcast live on Trinity TV.
November 25 is Covenant Sunday. At a single 11:00 service, we host our Covenant partners from Christ Episcopal Church in Reading, bearing witness to the unity of our faith and service in the community. Father John Francis will give the sermon and a joint choir will sing. There will be no 8:30 worship this day so that all may honor the covenant.
Exciting worship and fellowship opportunities abound in the season of Advent, which begins December 2 and lasts for four Sundays. A unique work of art will surround us and grow each week at the four corners of the church, as we are surrounded by a different kind of Advent wreath. Beautiful liturgical pieces will lend power to the season. Special gifts for the children will be given on 12/2 (Advent calendars) and 12/9 (St. Nicholas Day — leave your shoes in the Narthex and see what St. Nick will leave!).
The Nativity of Our Lord
We celebrate the birth of our Savior with two Christmas Eve candlelight services, both with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Each worship service on December 24 is unique.
5:00 PM – Family Worship
An all-generation orchestra directed by David Himes is a special feature of this service; if you play an instrument at any level, you are invited to participate. This year’s chancel drama will be presented in verse by five children of Trinity, depicting the animals (and a star) of Christmas.
10:00 PM – Festival Worship
Special gifts of music are offered from 10:00-10:30 PM with a full liturgy candlelight service beginning at 10:30 PM.
Carols and Readings
On the Sunday after Christmas, December 30, we will have one Eucharist service of Carols and Readings at 11:00 AM in the Nave. There will be no 8:30 service.
Martin Luther King Weekend (January 20)
We’re thrilled to be welcoming Doxa, a well-loved Gospel Ensemble, to help lead our 11:00 worship this Sunday as we honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and recommit ourselves to the struggle for justice and understanding among all God’s children.
Common Ground Recovery Ministry
Common Ground Recovery worship continues to meet at 4:00 PM each Sunday in the Auditorium. This meaningful service of Word, Sacrament, Meal and healing conversation is open to the entire community, including all members of Trinity. Experience God’s grace in a new way through Common Ground.
