All our services at Trinity are special because, as we gather around Word and Sacrament, God is present in our midst and our lives are renewed. Yet throughout the year there are special occasions and celebrations that we observe together. Of course, the festivals and seasons of the church year — Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost and Thanksgiving, are marked by special times of worship and praise. Additionally, there are commemorations and worship events throughout the year that recognize God’s goodness in our lives.
Common Ground Recovery Ministry
Common Ground Recovery worship continues to meet at 4:00 PM each Sunday in the Auditorium. This meaningful service of Word, Sacrament, Meal and healing conversation is open to the entire community, including all members of Trinity. Experience God’s grace in a new way through Common Ground.
Sundays in Advent
Advent is a four week season marked by hope and anticipation. The Advent wreath is lit, the decorations gradually unfold and we watch and wait together for Christ to come into our lives, not only at Christmas, but every day and at the end of this age.
A Family Candlelight service is offered at 5:00 PM, when a talking Christmas tree explains the beauty and meaning of our Savior’s birth. At 10:00 PM, special music will be offered by Trinity’s choirs and musicians prior to a 10:30 PM Candlelight service, focusing on the wonder of this silent night in our hectic lives. Holy Communion will be offered at both services and all are welcome.
Lessons and Carols
On Sunday, December 29, we continue the celebration of Christmas with a simpler service of Scripture readings and Christmas carols. There is only a single 11:00 service this day.
The Baptism of Our Lord
On Sunday, January 12, celebrate the gift of your own baptism as we commemorate the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River. The service begins with the Thanksgiving for Baptism accompanied by aspergis (sprinkling) as we rejoice in the waters of life!
Commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On Sunday, January 19, the talented ensemble, As I Am, will lead portions of our worship as we remember the legacy of Dr. King and recommit ourselves to the struggle against racism, poverty and war. As I Am will be in concert at Trinity as part of our Wolfe Series the previous evening, January 18. See the Music tab on this website for more information.
The Season of Lent
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 26. Worship with imposition of ashes, will be offered at both 12:05 PM (chapel) and 7:30 PM (Nave). Other Wednesday in Lent will feature a noonday service (12:05 PM) with a light soup lunch. Sundays in Lent will include special elements designed by Trinity’s inter-generational planning team.
