Broadway has been taking us to church for decades: from the Salvation Army’s Rockin’ the Boat, to Tevye’s family Shabbat, to Purlie Walking Up the Stairs, to singing nuns in an Austrian convent and the hilarious, high-kicking sisters of Nunsense.
