Dr. Cameron Lee Wentz

Dr. Cameron Wentz is a composer, church musician, and educator originally from York County, Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Westminster Choir College having studied composition with Benjamin C.S. Boyle and organ with Alan Morrison. He completed his Master of Music degree at The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University studying composition with Michael Hersch and organ with John Walker. After pursuing further graduate studies in the United Kingdom, studying composition with Rob Keeley and Edward Nesbit at King’s College London, Cameron returned to the US to complete his doctorate at the University of Maryland studying composition and theory with Thomas DeLio.
As a church musician, he led programs as Director of Music for St. John the Divine in the Richmond suburb of London, and as Cantor at historic Christ Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. As an Educator he has helped shape the next generation of musicians as a teaching assistant at Kings College London, an instructor in aural skills at the University of Maryland, and as an ear training instructor for the National Children’s Chorus. As a composer he has gotten to workshop with a variety of ensembles including JACK quartet, St Lawrence String Quartet, Lontano, Ensemble Dal Niente, and Alarm Will Sound. He is an active member of the New York Composers Circle.
Before coming to Reading, Cameron was the Associate Director of Music at The Reformed Church of Bronxville outside of New York City. There he oversaw the handbell program and accompanied the choirs, with a focus on liturgical leadership and children’s musical formation.
He and his husband Jorge have moved quite a bit in a short period of time, living in London, Baltimore, and New York. They are enjoying settling down in Wyomissing and continuing to travel when they can, especially to visit Jorge’s family in Portugal.
