As the end of September approaches, the first floor renovation committee is having serious discussions about the end of the first floor project. A few things that we are discussing are dates, things yet to be done and dedications/celebrations. They are all interdependent.
At our most recent meeting, we decided that we should be able to finish the rest of the flooring in the All Saints Room and hallway, the flooring in the Welcome Center and baseboard, trim and casing for all of the doorways. Our hired painter should be done with all of the Welcome Center painting and our electrician should be done with hanging our new lighting fixtures. Then, we should be able to have a dedication/celebration in early November. We do want to put a coffee bar in the Welcome Center, but we are now thinking of going with something portable and at a later date.
Kathrine Graf and her fellow restorer, James Eaton, will be pointing (putting mortar between the stones) the two rock walls in the All Saints Room. Our plumber will also be coming in to finish installing the slop sink in the Garden Room. After that, we can lay the new vinyl flooring that will go in there. Finally, the family bathroom will get some finishing touches and should be done by November as well.
If you haven’t already noticed, we have taken the plastic off of the new stained glass windows. Every time I come into the space, I am amazed by how lovely they are!
Again, thanks so much to anyone who has worked, supported, encouraged, enjoyed this new and exciting upgrade to our historic space. Also, a big thank you to the congregation members of Trinity for entrusting us with this project and for your patience as it seems to go on and on. Thanks for stepping over all of the “stuff” every week and for having the vision and perseverance to bring this project to fruition.
