It is very hard to surprise me, but you got me good on November 10! Wow! Pastor Hans had told me months ago that there would be a day. When Pastor Hans descended from the pulpit and I saw Donna Osborne walk up, I looked at Amy Norton-Ritz who confirmed that today was indeed that day.
Words cannot begin to thank Donna Osborne, not only for her message and remembrances, but also for coordinating the whole day. I know there were many others, whose names I do not know, who were instrumental in making the day so special.
The counted cross stitch piece, lovingly created by Peggy Bobb & Charlie Norton, has already found an honored place in my home. If you haven’t heard the commissioned piece by David Himes, please go back to the worship service and have a listen. Psalm 24 was the first psalm I ever memorized. Dave wrote a truly spectacular setting for the Mixed Ensemble and Trinity Ringers. It blew me away to find out the Ensemble and Ringers rehearsed on Friday evenings because that was the only time they were sure I wasn’t going to be at church. I’m excited to announce that the other commissioned piece, written by my cherished friend Anne Krentz Organ, will premiere on Sunday, December 29. I would like to thank the Trinity Choir and Mixed Ensemble in advance for their willingness to present a musical offering on what, historically, has been a Sunday off to recover from the hard work preparing for Christmas Eve.
The reception was filled with was a few of my favorite things: shrimp, veggies & dip, fruit, cheese & crackers, and an incredibly decorated white cake with a very special Soli Deo gloria. Yum! It was wonderful to see my home congregation enjoying one another’s company in a time of fellowship. Many thanks to Allison Kalbach for the beautiful floral arrangements that included my favorite flowers.
My heart is full. I thank you for your love, support, and friendship over the past thirteen years as I’ve served as your Minister of Music. I know that Dr. Wentz will continue the music excellence that Trinity has expected and appreciated for more than 275 years.
With gratitude and love,
Karen
